AKQA Names Rosie Milton-Schönemann Global Director of Marketing and Communications

AKQA has appointed Rosie Milton-Schönemann as its Global Director of Marketing and Communications, taking on a newly created role within the agency's global leadership structure.
In the new position, Milton-Schönemann will lead AKQA's global marketing and communications strategy, working with leaders across the agency's international business. Her responsibilities will include brand, reputation, corporate communications, and shaping how the agency communicates with clients, talent, and the wider industry.
Milton-Schönemann joins AKQA from Accenture Song, where she spent nearly a decade working across global communications. Most recently, she led global corporate communications, with responsibilities spanning brand reputation, executive communications, and external engagement.

Her move comes as marketing and communications functions continue to evolve within global agencies. The role increasingly extends beyond traditional brand communications, incorporating executive positioning, corporate reputation, employee engagement, and communications across multiple markets.
For agencies operating at the intersection of creativity and technology, marketing and communications also play a role in explaining changing capabilities and business priorities to different audiences. AI, digital experiences, data, and new approaches to creative production are changing how agencies communicate their work and position their expertise.
Milton-Schönemann's experience across corporate communications and brand reputation brings those areas together in her new remit at AKQA. Her appointment also adds a dedicated global marketing and communications function to the agency's leadership structure.
The move follows leadership changes at AKQA under CEO and WPP Group Chief Strategy Officer Baiju Shah. With Milton-Schönemann now responsible for global marketing and communications, the agency is adding another layer of leadership focused on how its brand, people, and work are communicated across markets.
For the broader marketing industry, the appointment reflects the expanding scope of senior communications roles, particularly within global agencies where reputation, leadership messaging, brand strategy, and external engagement increasingly overlap.
