commercetools has appointed Katy Hiller as Chief Marketing Officer, bringing more than 20 years of B2B technology marketing experience to the company's executive team.

Hiller joins commercetools from Unily, where she served as Chief Marketing Officer. Before Unily, she spent seven years at software supply chain company Sonatype, progressing through marketing leadership roles before becoming CMO. Her experience spans marketing strategy, go-to-market planning, demand generation, and building global marketing organizations.

In her new role, Hiller will oversee commercetools' global marketing strategy, including brand, communications, product and field marketing, and demand generation. The expanded remit places marketing across both corporate positioning and the company's engagement with enterprise commerce buyers.

The appointment comes as AI begins to influence how consumers discover products and how businesses manage digital commerce. commercetools has been developing its strategy around autonomous and agentic commerce, including its Sphere enterprise commerce platform and AI-focused offerings such as AI Hub and AgenticLift.

For B2B technology marketers, this shift is creating a broader communications challenge. Companies operating in commerce technology increasingly need to explain not only the underlying technology but also how AI changes customer journeys, buying processes, operational workflows, and the role of existing commerce infrastructure.

Hiller's background across B2B software marketing places her in a role where these areas intersect. Her responsibilities will span demand generation and field marketing alongside brand, communications, and product marketing, connecting different parts of the marketing organization as commercetools develops its global strategy.

The appointment also adds marketing leadership as commercetools continues to position AI and autonomous commerce within its enterprise technology strategy. The company currently works with more than 500 global brands, retailers, and enterprise organizations, according to its corporate information.

Hiller's move reflects the changing role of the CMO in enterprise technology, where marketing increasingly sits at the intersection of product strategy, AI adoption, customer behavior, and commercial growth.
