Google has named Nitin Gajria as Managing Director for Southeast Asia and South Asia Frontier markets, expanding his regional responsibilities as businesses across these markets continue to increase their focus on digitalisation and artificial intelligence.

Gajria returns to Southeast Asia for the new role after spending the past three years as Managing Director, Partnerships, Asia Pacific at Google. In that position, he worked on the company’s publisher and creator monetisation business across the region.

His career at Google spans more than 12 years and includes leadership positions across several international markets. Before his APAC partnerships role, Gajria served as Managing Director for Sub-Saharan Africa from 2019 to 2023 and previously led Google's business across Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. He also held the role of Head of Brand Solutions for India and Southeast Asia.

Before joining Google, Gajria spent more than 11 years at Procter & Gamble in brand and business leadership roles across Singapore and Australia. He also served as Regional Marketing Director for Enfa A+ at Mead Johnson Nutrition, working across areas including brand innovation, media, digital and CRM.

The new regional mandate comes as AI becomes an increasingly important part of Google’s business strategy across Southeast Asia and South Asia. Recent reporting indicates that consumer interest in AI across the region is significantly higher than the global average, while usage of Google’s Gemini app has also grown substantially.

For Gajria, the appointment represents a return to the region where his Google career began more than a decade ago. His expanded remit brings together his experience across partnerships, marketing, regional business leadership, and digital ecosystems at a time when AI adoption is reshaping how businesses and consumers engage with technology across emerging Asian markets.
