Actonomy Names Ruth McGuinness as CEO

Actonomy has named Ruth McGuinness as Chief Executive Officer as the AI business begins operating as a dedicated unit focused on bringing artificial intelligence into live enterprise environments.

McGuinness moves into the CEO role after serving as head of Kainos’s AI practice. Her experience includes working across enterprise artificial intelligence, with Kainos having delivered AI deployments spanning machine learning, generative AI, and more recently, agentic AI.

Actonomy was launched by Kainos in September 2026 as a standalone AI product business. The company focuses on what it describes as “production AI,” referring to the deployment of AI systems into live environments where they can support real business processes and users.

The business has emerged from Kainos’s work in enterprise AI and is built around a platform that combines AI agents, models, data and workflow orchestration, along with deployment and integration capabilities. Actonomy says its approach has reduced the time required to deploy AI into production by up to 75%.

McGuinness’s appointment comes as enterprises continue moving beyond experimentation with generative AI toward applications that can operate within business workflows. While AI adoption has expanded across individual productivity use cases, deploying systems at departmental and organisational scale remains a more complex challenge involving data, governance, integration, reliability, and operational processes.

Actonomy began with four signed enterprise customers following a soft launch in July. Early deployments include work with a UK specialist lender and a UK water utility, covering use cases related to non-performing loans and operational efficiencies.

With McGuinness at the helm, Actonomy will continue developing its focus on production AI as organisations assess how emerging AI technologies can move from pilots into operational environments.
