Cory Grever Joins OpenAI Ads Team to Support UK and EMEA

OpenAI has added Cory Grever to its Ads team in London, where he will support the company’s advertising efforts across the UK and EMEA markets. Grever joins after spending a decade at The Trade Desk, bringing experience from the programmatic advertising and digital media ecosystem.
Grever’s move comes as OpenAI continues to build its advertising business across international markets. In his announcement, he noted that OpenAI’s Ads business had reached a $1 billion annualized revenue run rate and had recently expanded into 31 European markets.
His new role is focused on go-to-market activities for Ads, placing him within a business area that is still developing its commercial model and relationships with advertisers and the broader media ecosystem.

The appointment is notable for the experience Grever brings from The Trade Desk, one of the major platforms in programmatic advertising. A decade working in the sector gives him familiarity with advertisers, agencies, media buying, data, and the technology infrastructure behind digital campaigns.
OpenAI’s expansion into advertising is also creating new questions for the wider marketing technology industry. AI platforms are increasingly becoming part of how consumers discover information, products, and services, potentially creating new environments for brands to reach audiences.
For advertisers, the development could eventually introduce another channel alongside search, social, programmatic, retail media, and connected TV. It also raises questions around audience targeting, measurement, privacy, brand safety, and how advertising fits into AI-generated experiences.
Grever’s appointment comes at an early stage of that evolution, particularly in Europe. His focus on UK and EMEA markets places him in a region where privacy regulation, media fragmentation, and differing market structures can create additional considerations for advertising platforms.
As OpenAI develops its Ads business, commercial and go-to-market expertise from established digital advertising markets will be relevant to how the company engages advertisers and agencies across Europe.
