Darktrace has appointed Mike McGuinness as Chief Revenue Officer, adding a senior commercial leader to its executive team as the cybersecurity company continues to operate across the expanding AI-driven security market.

McGuinness brings experience in revenue leadership and go-to-market strategy across enterprise technology businesses. His professional background includes CRO and go-to-market leadership roles, with experience spanning revenue growth, sales strategy, and commercial operations. Public professional information describes him as an interim CRO and GTM leadership advisor, with previous experience overseeing more than $500 million in revenue growth over a three-year period.

At Darktrace, McGuinness will oversee the company’s revenue organization, with responsibilities spanning sales and broader go-to-market activities. The CRO role typically connects sales execution with customer acquisition, revenue operations, partnerships, and commercial strategy.

His appointment comes as cybersecurity vendors increasingly address the impact of artificial intelligence on both enterprise security requirements and the threat landscape. Darktrace has been positioning behavioral AI as part of its approach to detecting and responding to changing cyber threats. Company CEO Ed Jennings has also highlighted the need for security organizations to address threats that can evolve alongside increasingly capable AI systems.

The role places revenue strategy alongside this changing technology environment. For cybersecurity companies, commercial teams increasingly need to communicate complex security capabilities to technology leaders while adapting sales processes to longer enterprise buying cycles and changing security priorities.

McGuinness’s appointment also adds a dedicated revenue leadership role at Darktrace as the company continues its work across enterprise cybersecurity. His focus will be on coordinating the commercial organization and aligning go-to-market activity with the company’s broader business objectives.

The move reflects the growing importance of revenue leadership in cybersecurity, where product development, AI capabilities, customer requirements, and commercial strategy are increasingly interconnected.
