Qualtrics has appointed Mike Potter as Chief Technology Officer, bringing more than 25 years of technology leadership experience to the company as it develops its next phase of AI and experience management infrastructure.

Potter joins Qualtrics from Petal, where he most recently led Product, Engineering, IT, Data, and Security. Before Petal, he spent about a decade at Qlik, where he held technology leadership roles focused on engineering, platform transformation, and scaling technology operations. His earlier career includes roles at Cognos and IBM.

At Qualtrics, Potter will lead platform architecture and engineering, with a focus on infrastructure, technical development, and system reliability. His appointment comes shortly after the company introduced its XM Data & AI platform, which is designed to bring experience data and AI capabilities together across customer, employee, product, and brand experiences.

The technology leadership change comes as Qualtrics shifts its platform strategy toward AI-native experience management. The company says its XM Data & AI platform is intended to process and reason over experience data at enterprise scale, while supporting capabilities that can predict outcomes and enable organizations to act on experience signals.

For technology organizations, this shift creates infrastructure requirements that extend beyond conventional survey and feedback systems. Combining large volumes of experience data with AI requires attention to platform architecture, data integration, reliability, security, and the ability to support AI-driven workflows.

Potter's background across product, engineering, data, IT, and security aligns with these requirements. His experience at Qlik also included technology transformation during a period of growth, providing a background in scaling enterprise software platforms.

The appointment also follows a broader leadership transition at Qualtrics. Jason Maynard became CEO in February 2026, while Ken Coleman was appointed Senior Vice President of Marketing in July.

Potter's move adds technology leadership as Qualtrics develops its AI and data infrastructure and prepares its XM Data & AI platform for broader availability.
